Description

e-oral health is changing the way health professionals work, acquire knowledge and training, communicate with patients as well as their professional networks. The use of e-oral health has strengthened access and provision of health through improved access, monitoring, sharing and use of quality data. The use of applications (Apps) has expanded with the ubiquitous presence of the internet and mobile technology. In addition, the public is increasingly searching on the internet for health data to manage their own health. e-oral health offers cost-effective interventions; increased outcomes, in terms of a reduction in cost and an increase in quality of care.

e-oral health involves a number of new technologies and concepts that can sometimes be confused or mixed up. A group of experts has reached a consensus on the terminology to be used for the research, education and application of these concepts. They will look at a definition of telemedicine and explore differences between e-health, telehealth, telemedicine and e-oral health.

In addition, members of e-oral health have participated in the WHO initiative on m-oral health and will present the mOralHealth Handbook at this symposium.

The use of Artificial intelligence and machine learning will transform the delivery of health care. Machine learning will be used by professionals in clinical settings, by patients in apps, for self-management of conditions. This symposium also aims to further increase awareness on the various surrounding the use and uptake of artificial intelligence, machine learning and deep learning among others. applied to oral healthcare.
